Welcome to the
Swiss Institute for Empirical Economic Research

The SEW, an institute at the University of St. Gallen, was newly founded in 2008. It is the result of a merger of chairs from both the former FEW and the SIAW Institutes. Traditionally, the chairs have focused on scientific research as well as economic policy consultation. The work of our institute is based on the understanding that economic policy advice must be based on befitting empirical research and a thorough understanding of the process of policy making.

The research of our group focuses on economic issues dealing with behavior, labor markets, population, health, politics and public policy and topics in microeconometric methods. For more information please look at our list of research projects as well as the individual homepages. If you are interested in our activities and research results please refer to the list of recent papers, books, presentations, and other activities, many of which can easily be downloaded.
